News Flash 2024 :)

News! :O

April Fools 2024 post (you're reading this after 01/04/2024)

Micro-cars for all   and  E-bikes for all
The Unnited Kingdonia government has given a tax credit to anyone who buys an electric micro-car or an electric-bike.
This is to reduce pollution from combustion cars, as well as reduce inefficient road space used primarily by lone commuters in their 2-tonne electric car, taking up significantly more space on the road than a fat person does on the plane. Be healthier, don't be fat. Work smarter, not eat harder. Tool for the job, your Ford F150 truck isn't a be-all solution to work shopping and partying.

Both e-bikes and electric micro-cars were about £6000 to buy before the tax credit.

Now with the government tax credit, the real cost is about £3000 brand new.

Micro-car hire has also been planned at outer tube stations and rail stations as a form of park-and-ride.

Cycle bus expansion
New plans emerged to expand the cycle-buses given the great reception by the Silvertown cycle bus.
A new one will be made either side of Rotherhithe Tunnel as well as at Hammersmith Bridge.

Ferry
The creation of the ferry between Barking Riverside and Thamesmead was brought back into the plans, expected to be in service by 2027. These along with other ferries across east London were cancelled by Said Khan.

Superloop+
Expansion of the Superloop, along with inclusion of commercial bus routes 724 and X80 into SL14 and SL15.
SL6 made an all-day service at every 15 Mon-Sun, first and last bus timed to align with night bus N68.

West London Transit
Bus routes 427 and E8 renumbered into new WL1 and WL2. The 120 renumbered into WL3. Creation of new route WL4.
WL1 Uxbridge via Southall to Hounslow (every 8 M-Sat, 10 Sat, 12 Sun, 12 eve)
WL2 Hounslow via Ealing to Acton (24-hour, every 8 Mon-Fri day every 10 Sat, 12 Sun, 12 eve)
WL3 Hounslow via Norwood Green to Northolt (24-hour, every 8 Mon-Sat day, 12 Sun, 15 eve)
WL4 Richmond via Brentford to Southall (every 10 M-Sat, 15 Sun, 15 eve)

WL1, WL2 and WL3 will all use New Routemasters

Route 195 cut back from Brentford to Ealing Hospital as the WL4 will be routed to parallel WL2 between Brentford and Ealing Hospital.

Articulated single deckers return
Otherwise known colloquially as bendies, will make a comeback.
A batch of 50 Mercedes-Benz Citaro Capacity L have been ordered by London Transport for routes 18 and H37. Their use will be evaluated and trialled. Front door only boarding, but will have three doors. Their capacity will be 190 people per bus, massively outscaling the double deckers at 90-capacity as well as the single deckers at 70-capacity.

Tri-axle buses
In addition to the above, tri-axle electric double deckers have been spotted on bus route 5 (Romford Market-Canning Town), this is eerily similar to 2017 where a gold-livery KMB bus was spotted along the route just prior to it's tender announcement. This bus in question was an Enviro500, a tri-axle 12m double decker diesel. The project wasn't pursued further until 2018 when a hybrid equivalent, in partnership with Ventage hybrid technology was done, the bus manufactured by a Chinese-Australian company. The bus wasn't reliable.

The Hong Kong and Singapore markets are flooded with diesel Enviro500s and Volvo tri-axles that will need to be replaced in their lifetimes by electric buses. Already, Enviro500 EVs have been made and serviced in some locations.

We've borrowed one bus for trial to see if our bus route 5 can once again, be tri-axle.

Croydon Light Rail
New tube line shuttle from Elephant & Castle following the A23 corridor all the way until Purley to relieve the Victoria Line.

Happy April Fools day!
