RATP Enviro200 MMCs

Out of my own interest and rock-hard will I decided to cover RATP Enviro200 MMCs given all of them, for most part, are 10.9m and can easily go to any other depot as they all have had them by now. Meaning it's easy for buses to cover duties if on loan given they're the same length found elsewhere, no driver training required. You get the jist, common fleets everywhere helps reliability of the same flock per se as well as neat and easy operation-wise.
All diesel Enviro200 MMCs ordered by London United/Sovereign have stop-start and the Voith DIWA 824.4 4-speed gearbox with the 4.5 litre 4-cylinder Cummins ISB4.5 Euro 6 engine, power ranges varying from 180hp to 210hp.
Electric E200MMCs with BYD's D9UR chassis has around 240hp for it's two 90kW motors.

Amount of diesel E200MMCs:
SDE (9m):     25
SDE (9.7m):    8
DE* (10.9m):  14
DME (10.5m):  21
DLE (10.9m): 144 + 14*
DXE (11.5m):  20
Total      : 232

Electric E200MMCs:
    (9.6m) : N/A
BME (10.5m):  24
BE (10.9m) : 101
     (12m) : N/A

Overall    : 357

265's 30027-40 (30129-30142 tho) had the 10.4m DE code whilst being 10.9m in size. Rectified in 11/2019.

New to route 265 (Putney Bridge to Tolworth) with the new adaptation by Cummins (engine manufacturer) and Voith (gearbox manufacturer) to create stop-start, something you see in all normal hybrids. The engine stops on idle and comes back on when required, though in a non-hybrid bus, all it does is come back on when the throttle is applied or rear door is closed. In any case, RATP successfully retained the 265 and offloaded it's 2002/3 DPS Dart Pointers in favour of the third generation Enviro200. Later on these buses had their codes changed to DLE to better suit the fleet of, DLEs. This retracted given the length difference and possible 10.5s later down the line... though there has been a case where they were to be numbered in the 28xxx series or so...
Length of 10.9m with 31 seats.

Quality Line failed to win S4 with prematurely ordered 64-reg Enviro200's, but was the perfect back-up plan to rid of some Darts on the S3 with a few years left of it's contract. Thus, in 2017 it was retained with the 64-reg meant for S4 topped by newer MMC variants still sporting the calming Quality Line interior, only three of them but still.
With Quality Line Epsom (EB)'s closure, all routes except 413/463/S1 transfer to Tolworth (TV) with subsequent transfers of routes from Hounslow Heath (HH) and as a result some routes moving into Fulwell (FW). Go-Ahead take on the three outed routes.

These are 9m long with 24 seats. Registered in April 2017.

If not for the intervention of TfL making stop-start a must on single decker buses, then this slot of buses would be Citaro Ks. RATP and Stagecoach were rather impressed with their trials with MBK1 (BU13ZVE) of which they undertook up to two times, though one was with Quality Line. Either way, this slot of buses based at Hounslow (AV) make up the Peak Vehicle Requirement of 7 needed to operate route 110, now West Middlesex Hospital in Isleworth to Hounslow Bus Station.
These are also the first of the near-infinite mass of 10.9m buses that make up the French RATP's bus warship, new in May 2017.

DLE30049-30070
Temporary buses for route 70 which was awarded on the basis of All-Electric buses. This wasn't going to be built in time so new diesels were ordered, with the electric buses phasing in around the following year, the next 12 months at the most. It was only until past that point closer to the 30 month mark that the electric buses made their way into service slowly. One BE coming in. One DLE going out. So on so forth until 70/C1 became zero emission. These are 22 buses for route 70's PVR of 19, some earmarked for upon successful retain of route H22 as well as 411/465. As of typing the batch is split between Shepherd's Bush (S) [70], Hounslow (AV) [H22], Fulwell (FW) [411] and Epsom (EB) [465]. These were new in May/June 2017.
May 2021 update: 411 transferred to Hounslow Heath (HH) thus moving DLE30061-7 with it.
December 202 update: 411 transferred to Tolworth (TV), keeping DLE30062-7.
These are 10.9m long with 31 seats.

DLE30070 SN17MVC: Was never new to Shepherd's Bush (S), actually allocated to 411 [until it left] and 465 at Epsom (EB) replacing an Optare Versa that wasn't repaired including the fact reacquired Hybrid Optare Versa was wanted back at Optare, during this time MBK1 (MCS10) was also sold after use on route 413. This lone DLE entered service on 16/06/17 to make up for both losses. It could've been part of a consistent batch 30070-79 if an order for 411/465 was issued. Transfer to Tolworth (TV) 25/04/20.

Ordered for route 470 at Quality Line's Epsom (EB). So I say but they're under RATP now. Either way upon successful contract renewal the 470 was specified with new buses, which it did get. What it did do was displace the only other batch of dual door Optare Solos, the only SR model with the dual door augmentation, in the name of RATP's fleet standardisation. These buses arrived in February 2018 later than the contract renewal in November 2017 and slowly entered service varying between start of February and near end of February.
Initially these were planned to transfer with closure of Epsom (EB) in June 2021 but plans didn't change, minus three of these moving earlier in advance and being allocated to K5 to release smaller E200s for school extras on K1/K4 come April 2021. In the meantime in February 2021, these have had their codes changed to DDE.
Length of 9.75m, seating 27, weigh 7680kg. Dual door.

As of January 2023, these all moved to Edgware (BT) for the takeup of 226 whilst electrics arrive.

DLE30217-30226 & DLE30227-249 & SDE20297-301
New to Tolworth (TV) for the retain of route 216 (Kingston to Staines), route K2 (Kingston Hospital to Hook), and gain from Abellio K3 (Esher via Kingston to Roehampton Vale) respectively.  The batch can be identified with the YX18-reg for the 216, registered in Yorkshire and the SN18-reg registered in Scotland. The K2 is alone at Tolworth (TV), which helps identification.
The reason for the numbering gap between DLE30070 and DLE30217 was due to the numbering sequence in between, belonging to the Optare Versas and Citaros. RATP went with a futureproof option and started from 30217, a slot with nothing ahead to stop in it's path. 30201-16 filled by the only Optare Tempo batch in London. Either way, all these DLEs were registered in May to June 2018.
The DLEs are obviously 10.9m long with 31 seats.

Also, the SDEs are for the K4 (Mansfield Estate to Kingston Hospital) which unfortunately can't see longer buses due to it's routeing in Mansfield Park, it's terminus. The SDEs are 9m in length and seat 24.

Zero Emission electric, All-Electric per se.
BYD's K9 was deemed successful on Go-Ahead's trials on Red Arrow routes 507 and 521. RATP made a commitment to make Shepherd's Bush (S) all electric, the French operator already has 800 electric buses on order in Paris split between three manufacturers. Back in December 2016, when route 70's tender was announced as a loss from Tower Transit, it's allocation was To Be Confirmed, so would've only been Electric or Hydrogen either way. The contracts for 70 and C1 began on 24 June 2017, the 70 gaining new  diesel Enviro200 MMCs DLE30049-70 to be used on other routes and the C1 kept it's allocation of classic Enviro200s later reused elsewhere such as Fulwell (FW) for 419 and Shepherd's Bush (S) for 72.
These electrics came quite late only coming to fruition in August and September, intended for June 2018 but entered service in October. These are 10.9m and seat 33, weighing 11995kg.

New to London Sovereign in August 2018 as their first batch for routes 288/303, unexpectedly won from Arriva London I say with sarcasm. In fairness the only other competition was Metroline. These not only ended up late for the route but essentially half based at their depot of Edgware (BT) and it's outstation around the corner, Canons Park (CP). The 303's portion is fully parked at the outstation with half of 288 also parked at CP.
This batch holds the title of the first to receive the extended wheelchair are space whereby a row of seats are sacrificed towards the front in favour of a larger wheelchair area capable of having 3 buggies in. A long anticipated change brought in now, with issues regarding multiple buggies and/or wheelchair space, now resolved.
These are 10.9m long with 29 seats, specified after successful route clearance test of an existing 70 DLE.

This was new in October 2018 to [ERROR 404] at Quality Line's Epsom (EB), it joins the other batches of SDEs of both 9m and 9.7m lengths for routes S3 and 470. Though this is only one bus ordered for a route with a PVR of 1, usually you'd have a spare to go with it but like I mentioned, Epsom (EB) have a pool of 8.9m buses for their K5 and S3.
Length of 9m and seats 24, single door.

Transfer to Tolworth (TV) 30/06/20. Transfer to Epsom (EB) 05/10/20. Transfer to Tolworth (TV) 06/2021.

The first block are based at Park Royal (RP) for route H17. This route was retained with existing buses but in the end got new DLEs in the process, rather surprisingly as the 11-reg Enviro200s were very well compliant for another term. This is RATP standardising their fleet so makes sense. The route itself even transferred from it's terminus depot of Harrow (SO) to make room for the incoming H18/H19 circulars, the H17 isn't far off from Park Royal on the Wembley side.
Secondly and solidly Harrow (SO)'s batch of vehicles for the H18/H19 circulars which were also gained from Arriva in their takeoff from North West London. These came rather on time given the contract changeover for the H-circulars was after the 288/303 change which didn't go well from the start.
267-274 for route H17. 275-283 for routes H18/H19. Length of 10.9m and 29 seats, all registered October 2018 with the odd August 2018 lot (SN18).

June 2020 update: Whilst H17 moved back to Harrow (SO) temporarily, it's DLEs didn't. Since H17 instead utilized spares in Harrow (SO). July 2020 update: H17's DLEs moving to Harrow (SO) for the route. July 2021 update, H17 moved back a few days earlier to Park Royal (RP).

September 2022 update: H17 lost to Metroline, allowing the H17 DLEs to move to retained H11.

DXE30284-30290

Hold it. DXE. Xtralong.
This surprised everyone whilst also dimming down hope for the likes of a B5LH single decker or Citaro (though still 'banned') or any other alternative. Though at the same time RATP have constantly been ordering 10.9m long Enviro200s without break so we'd think they'd do the same for 293. Wrong.
Convert 293 to double deck? Wrong, though a nice welcome.

The correct answer is keeping 293 at 70-capacity single deckers and it's School Day Operation coming from a bus released from 94. Understand where I'm coming from? The 11.5m variant of the Enviro200 MMC was the pecking order for route 293 (Morden to Epsom) and it is the first route to do, reviving nostalgia of the Super Pointer Darts of which the only batch was found on Stagecoach route 227 (Crystal Palace to Bromley North). Difference is the SPDs had 6 cylinder engines and these do not, the 6 cylinder engine version of the E200MMC is at 11.8m length, extra overhang for the extra space covered by the larger engine. Though in fairness the 227 receives it's own equivalent under Go-Ahead... the StreetLite Max at 11.5m length.
These are 11.5m long with 33 seats weighing 8262kg, registered September/October 2018.

DLE30291-30297 & DLE30308-30331
Again another batch this time for route 223 which was partially delayed, the 223 using K2's 07-reg Enviro200s in the short term alongside 224's who's batch was also late. The route was meant to be based at Harrow (SO) but the space wasn't there, so Park Royal (RP) was the temporary alternative.
These are still bog-standard normal 10.9m DLEs with 29 seats new in October, I wonder if you the reader has gotten bored of me typing this up yet.

Now...the next block registered in November 2018. is clearly only to replace the Optare Versas found at Park Royal (RP) found on route 283, which wasn't even retained, in fact is up in April 2020 which is a year away as of typing this. What's mysterious to me is why about 24 buses...the 283's PVR is 14, needing 2 spares. That is until I forgot the 224 was involved, needing 8 of it's own plus a spare. It couldn't keep using K2's to-be-withdrawn Enviro200s for the rest of the term. A quantity of 24 DLEs for a PVR of 22.
Length 10.9m with 29 seats.. Fun fact: The number gap is due to the MCLs of route 203.

November 2021: The 283 moved to Stamford Brook (V) with it's DLEs.
November 2022: The 223 announced lost to Metroline West from 14 October 2023.

Somehow this batch of bog-standard 10.9m Enviro200 MMCs found themselves stuck on 391. Previously the 391 had already seen Enviro200 MMCs at Fulwell (FW).... this time it's the only single decker route at Stamford Brook (V) and only transferred in to cover the salt wounds due to the unfortunate withdrawal of route 10, covered in a post. Ultimately the 391's previous allocation was normal classic Enviro200s as ADL dubbed it, with the Versas allocated to 33. Though it's been the exact opposite previously, somehow. In any case this was a win-win as RATP got to ride the non-standard Versa type out, being their second-to-last batch gone, last ones being on route 465.
These form 16 DLEs for the 391, with a PVR of 16 with future anticipation of 391 being cut to Hammersmith from Sand's End in favour of double deck 306 (Acton Vale - Hammersmith - Sand's End) when the Elizabeth Line opens.
2020 update: With the heavy cut 391 received, part of this batch have been reallocated to 272 (also at Stamford Brook) to allow for 272's 10.5m DMEs to be reallocated to 326.
December 2020 update: The extension of 110 to Hammersmith over 391 saw these DLEs join 110's native DLEs at Hounslow (AV).
These are 10.9m long with 29 seats. Registered in November 2018.

Another batch of 11.5m DXEs. Or should I call them... the Super E20D MMCs? Bet you didn't like that. In any case as it's been circulating for a long time and it has finally happened and predicted as though it was 2+2, you couldn't possibly get 5 somehow. Yes, these were for Hounslow (AV) on their one and only bus route that suffers massive crowds as well as a low-bridge. Hounslow37, from Hounslow Blenheim Centre via Isleworth and St. Margaret's to Richmond Manor Circus.
For a PVR of 15 these are 13 buses. Of course less were ordered due to the consultation surrounding route 110/419, of which H37 is expected to receive a reduction in peak frequency with extended route 110 aiding this H37.
These are 11.5m long with 33 seats.

These are special 10.5m Enviro200 MMCs for routes 272 and 440. What's special about them you wonder? RATP have only ever ordered 10.9m versions except for occasions like short-bus routes (470, S3) or heavy-duty routes which may/may not have a low bridge (293, H37). The M should stand for Medium in this case as L is Large, S is Shorter and X would be Xtralarge if that makes sense.
If you're reading to this stage and screaming in your head 265 then you're correct, those are also 10.5m long, but coded DE. Why? Who knows, the LJ16-reg, first diesel batch ever with stop-start had a stage where they were coded DLE, which caused dislike given the length variation. These reverted to being DE again. Will they go DME? Who knows. Those are DLE correctly now.
2020 update: All of 272's DMEs have moved to be part of 326's retain.

21 buses for routes 272 and 440 whom harbor PVRs of 8 and 10 respectively. One less spare ordered in anticipation of 224's cut from Wembley to Alperton which will source 440's extension to Wembley.
Would be a length of 10.5m with 29 seats.

Another batch of 9.0m SDEs, albeit late for the K1 which had it's contract in June, in no small part due to the pandemic. With ADL ramping back up in midst of job losses and rearranging their plants for chassis and body making, these small E200MMCs made it, stored in Hounslow Heath (HH) who only houses routes 105/216 as of typing in 08/20. Thirteen strong MMCs for a route harbouring a PVR of 15.
These are 9m long and seat 24, single door.

A big 2021 mix of buses of mainly two batches, one for Fulwell (FW)'s 290 and 371 routes, with Hounslow Heath (WK)'s 235.
Problem being due to issues with installing chargers at Hounslow Heath (WK), only a pair of electric buses materialised after a year of time. Thus Fulwell (FW) has the bulk, with 33 becoming a defacto electric route, with the 72 part electric at Shepherd's Bush (S).
These are 10.9m long and seat 28, dual door, weighing up to 12619kg.

The 226's electric buses.

Unlike the previous buses (diesel or electric), they come with the touted Future Bus specification, on most buses since 63's Enviro400 EVs. The 226 is the first single deck example in London, following after 63 U5 111 and 295 for double deck examples.
High-back seats with a mixture of leather and moquette, LED displays, USB ports standard since 232's StreetLites, wooden flooring.

These electrics came quite late as usual with most electric orders, intended for late 2022 but entered service until sometime in 2023. These are 10.9m and seat 33, weighing 11995kg.
