Quick short post to show I'm still about, and something for me to put out.
Right, the Overground.
Please have Windrush serve Brixton, for the love of God.
Funny the last time Overground were to receive names, ex-Mayor Boris Johnson cancelled the project - like he cancelled orbital bus links (which Khan brought back as the weirdly named Superloop)
Liberty Line:
Reflects it's history of liberty from taxes and legal matters, from 1465 by King Edward IV.
I like it.
Lioness Line:
Reflects England Women Football Team's win. Doesn't reflect geography or history.
Less than neutral about it.
Mildmay Line:
Would be a fitting name if a different Overground line wasn't closer to Mildmay Hospital this is being named after.
Slightly dislike it.
Suffragette Line:
Soon to be nicknamed the suffering line whenever it's closed, but seemingly respects one person more than the movement, or perhaps person first then reason second.
Neutral.
Weaver Line:
Textile industry, weaving, immigrants of Irish, Jewish and Bengali background. The line passes through Weaver Fields.
I like it.
Windrush Line:
Goes through areas of South London where there's Carribean communities whom descended from those brought in by HMS Windrush.
Would've been 10/10 if the line served Brixton as opposed to skipping it.
Sort of like it.
That's Unorm's two pence.
Please have Windrush serve Brixton, for the love of God.
